Alloy and steel prefabricated beams are essential scaffolding components which are required to carry out certain operations, such as:

Forming a bridge in a scaffold structure.
• Creating suspended platforms.
• Erecting temporary roofs.
• Cantilever scaffolds.
• Strengthening the platforms of structure.

The type of beam chosen will be determined by the task they are required to carry out, and the load they expected to withstand. Alloy beams offer the benefit of being considerably lighter and easier to manually handle than their steel equivalents, although the aluminium used to form the beam is less stiff, therefore care must be taken to use a solution with sufficient load capacity.

Altrix Alloy Beams (840mm Deep, 790mm C/C)

Altrix Alloy Beams (840mm Deep, 790mm C/C)

Although having been designed exclusively for TRAD as part of the ALTRIX Temporary Roof System, unlike other roof beams this high capacity beam is not limited to this use. The verticals along with the top and bottom chords of these beams are manufactured from 48.3mm outside diameter tube, meaning no special fittings are required.

Manufactured from EN AW 6082 T6 alloy, the beams have consistent nodal spacing; therefore the vertical posts are always in the same location when viewed from the side. This allows the horizontal and plan lacing and bracing to be perfectly consistent, meaning neighbouring spans canto be made up from differing combinations of beam lengths, if required.

Lengths are joined using special six hole spigots and Grade 8.8 steel quick release pins or locking nuts & bolts.

Nominal Size and Weight

6.0m – 34.66kg
5.0m – 29.12kg
4.0m – 23.60kg
3.0m – 18.10kg
2.0m – 12.53kg
1.0m – 7.00kg

Asterix HD Alloy Beams (1330mm Deep, 1280mm C/C)

Asterix HD Alloy Beams (1330mm Deep, 1280mm C/C)

These are the ultimate in high capacity lightweight alloy beams. Available in standard lengths of up to 4m, the ASTERIX HD beam is manufactured from EN AW 6082 T6 Alloy tube which has the same diameter as traditional scaffold tube, meaning (like the ALTRIX Beam) no special fittings are required.

With a high joint strength due to the eight hole spigot, the ASTERIX HD Beam is a high strength, multi-purpose scaffold beam suitable for all applications. Lengths are joined using the special spigots and Grade 8.8 steel quick release pins or locking nuts & bolts.

Having consistent 1.0m vertical post spacing and equipped with integral post collars the ASTERIX HD beam can be used in conjunction with the ALTRIX Temporary Roof, to increase the load and span capacities of the ALTRIX system.

Nominal Size and Weight

4.0m – 41.13kg
3.0m – 31.87kg
2.0m – 22.60kg
1.0m – 13.33kg

Alloy Beams (450mm Deep, 400mm C/C)

Alloy Beams (450mm Deep, 400mm C/C)

The TRAD Alloy Beam has been specifically designed to have a high load capacity. The design allows tubular connection for lacing and bracing direct to the node points, between the diagonals, achieving maximum loading.

Lengths can be joined using special spigots and Grade 8.8 steel quick release pins or locking nuts & bolts.

Nominal Size and Weight

8.1m – 32.50kg
6.1m – 24.45kg
4.1m – 17.20kg

Other lengths may be available, please call your local depot for further information.

Alloy X Beams (750mm Deep, 702mm C/C)

Alloy X Beams (750mm Deep, 702mm C/C)

Alloy X – Beams offer a higher load capacity than the 450mm deep alloy beam option, whilst maintaining the benefit of being lightweight. X – Beams are suitable for many applications such as large span temporary roofs.

Lengths can be joined using special spigots and Grade 8.8 steel quick release pins or locking nuts & bolts.

Nominal Size and Weight

6.0m – 48.00kg
5.0m – 40.00kg
4.0m – 32.00kg
3.0m – 24.00kg
2.0m – 16.00kg
1.0m – 8.00kg

Steel Ladder Beams

Steel Ladder Beams

Available in lengths up to 6.4m (21′) steel ladder beams are so called as they are formed by welding steel scaffolding tubes in the form of a ladder. The ladder beam has a depth of 305mm from the centre of the top chord to the centre of the bottom, with the rungs being no further apart than the same measurement.

Unlike other types of beam, steel ladder beams should not be joined end-to-end, unless a connection detail has been designed and specified by a temporary works / scaffold design engineer.

Nominal Size and Weight

6.4m (21’) – 66.00kg
4.8m (16’) – 51.00kg
3.9m (13’) – 41.00kg
3.0m (10’) – 32.00kg

Other lengths may be available, please call your local depot for further information.
